The role of the NytNetværk Sønderborg Mentor is to introduce the Mentees to the norms and values governing in a Danish working environment and what may be perceived as good behaviour when applying for a job.
It is also expected that the Mentor introduces his / her network to the Mentee. i.e. explains the importance of networks in Denmark – e.g. how to build and benefit from it. It could very well be that the Mentor uses his / her network to support the professional development of the Mentee and possibly introduce the Mentee to relevant people within the Mentors network.
In the majority of cases, the Mentor finds that he / she benefits tremendously from the role as a Mentor – both at a professional as well as personal level. More often than not, the intercultural competencies of the Mentor are strengthened. But most importantly, the Mentor meets a person who may have an entirely different approach / way of thinking to those people whom the Mentor may encounter in his / her daily life.
